Alcaraz feels “invincible” as he seals dream ATP Finals matchup with Sinner

The Spaniard eliminated Auger-Aliassime, in Saturday’s second Turin semifinal. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are set for yet another high-stakes showdown, as the Spaniard joined the home favorite in the Turin championship match.

With the year-end No. 1 ranking already secured in his previous match, Alcaraz comfortably halted Felix Auger-Aliassime’s impressive autumn surge, winning 6-2, 6-4. Sinner, meanwhile, extended his perfect record against Alex de Minaur to 13-0 with a 7-5, 6-2 victory to reach the final.

The Canadian dug out of a 0-40 hole in his opening service game, but Alcaraz applied pressure again immediately this time converting his fifth break point with a brilliant forehand drop shot followed by a stretched forehand volley. The 22-year-old then held from 30-40 to consolidate, and from there,

Auger-Aliassime faced an uphill battle he never truly recovered from.

With relentless, blistering shot-making, Alcaraz broke at love to seal a superb first set, finishing with 13 winners to just two unforced errors. Maintaining full control, the six-time major champion earned the decisive break late in the second set and closed out the match at the 83-minute mark.

“I felt like I could do everything on court whether it was a forehand down the line, a drop shot, a backhand down the line, I felt like everything was going to land in,” he told ATP Media. “That confidence really helped me throughout the match, pushing him to the limit and forcing him to try something different.”
